LimiFlex Spinal Stabilization System:
Minimally invasive, flexion-restricting stabilization
Finally, a device that provides stabilization in conjunction with surgical decompression without requiring pedicle screws:
- preserves surgical options
- simple procedure, short implantation time
The LimiFlex™ Spinal Stabilization System provides segmental stabilization by restricting segmental flexion. A complete LimiFlex Device consists of two dynamic titanium rods each with a roller screw, a set screw, and a pre-attached Ultra-high Molecular Weight (UHMW) polyethylene textile strap. The dynamic rods are attached by screws to each other’s straps to form a tension band around the spinous processes and allow for intraoperative re-adjustment of the device.

LimiFlex implanted after surgical decompression to stabilize
Removal of posterior tissue for surgical decompression addresses the symptoms of stenosis but can further destabilize the segment. The LimiFlex Device is implanted through a dorsal approach, typically through the same incision used for the surgical decompression, without requiring placement of bone-penetrating screws.
The LimiFlex instrumentation is used to apply a small, controlled pre-tension to the device when the segment is in neutral or slight extension. This enables maintenance of the benefits of the surgical decompression, including foraminal patency, and ensures that the facets are not locked or overloaded.
